When our children were young, we traveled a lot as a family. We loved getting away, exploring together, and making memories that became part of our family’s story. Those shared adventures are something we’ve long cherished.

These days, when we all get together, we gather right here at Friedenswald. With seven children, their spouses, and 17 grandchildren, having the space makes it easier! Our family has grown, and the way we spend that time together has changed, but the heart of it is the same: being together.

There’s something special about having a place where the generations can gather, conversations can linger, and new memories can take shape alongside the old ones.

That’s part of why we love sharing Friedenswald with you. We know what time together means to our family, and we hope this peaceful place near Merrill, Wisconsin, can become part of your family’s story, too.

If you’re dreaming of a family getaway, a girls’ weekend, or a small group retreat in 2027, you can reserve all three of our stays together:

• The Upper Barn Retreat: Room for up to seven guests, with space to gather and visit.
• Owl’s Nest: A cozy campground glamping cabin for two.
• Pooh’s Hideout: A charming campground glamping cabin for two.

Together, they sleep up to 11 guests. You can enjoy time together while still having separate spaces to settle in at night. The cabins use the lower barn bathroom, a short walk away.

Picture a slow morning with coffee, an afternoon exploring the wooded trails, and an evening swapping stories around the fire. Stop at the covered bridge, relax by the pond, or find a book in the silo library. You don’t have to fill every hour to have a wonderful time.

Why booking early matters

Here’s something important to know as you start comparing calendars for 2027:

As soon as even one of our three spaces is booked, those dates are no longer available to reserve all three together.

We would hate for you to finally get everyone’s schedules lined up, only to discover that one cabin or the barn has already been reserved.

When our own family plans a gathering here, we block those dates so we can enjoy the space together. We understand how special it is to have that time set aside. If you have a weekend in mind, now is a good time to check availability and make your plans.

Stay a little longer and save
